Jennifer Sperry
Assistant Director for Training & Development
Have you ever been asked, "what fills your bucket?" I think it can take time and experience
to figure out the answer. For me, the answer has luckily always remained simple; helping
others succeed. I used to share with my family that I wanted to teach kiddos how to
read and have those "a-ha" moments. Now I get to witness those "a-ha" moments as our
residents learn how to sell their experiences in their resume to get a job, or when
they join a student organization where they can make an impact. Mostly, I get to coach
and guide residents and staff when they haven't had that "a-ha" feeling. Life can
be tricky to figure out and I feel like my calling is to be in someone's corner as
they journey to find out what does fill their bucket. And if we can enjoy the LSU
Gymnastics team winning a National Championship along the way, then that's even better!
"Hannah Montana once said "life's what you make it, so let's make it rock" and while this may seem silly, the best part about living on campus is there is a marvelous opportunity to make friends, get involved and build your experience for you. Embrace the new but also stay true to yourself." -Jennifer
My favorite thing to do in Baton Rouge
Baton Rouge has so many local coffee shops or cafes, especially around campus. As an iced coffee aficionado (self-proclaimed), I love getting to explore new ones and if you have any recommendations, send them my way!
My top three books
Anxious People by Fredrik Backman
The Complete Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi
They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera
If I didn't have this job, I would be a
Pastry chef at Disney World so I could be part of the team that builds all the gingerbread structures during the holiday season.
