For many engineering students, co-op experiences offer an opportunity to step outside the classroom and into real industry environments. These extended work terms allow students to apply technical knowledge, work alongside experienced professionals, and gain a deeper understanding of what engineering careers look like in practice.
The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation (CMEI) recently awarded $117 million to 56 projects that will strengthen the competitiveness of key American industries through energy and cost-saving innovations.
For Dylan Rousselle, leadership can look very different depending on where he is standing. In the classroom, the LSU senior is focused on biological engineering, a demanding course of study that requires precision, problem-solving, and plenty of preparation. On the football field, he stands at the front of the LSU Tiger Marching Band, mace in hand, leading hundreds of musicians and carrying on one of LSU's most visible traditions.
