There are many scholarships and grants available for educators and those thinking of becoming educators. This site includes details on numerous scholarships that are offered in the United States.

Scholarships for Current Students
The College of Human Sciences & Education annually awards various scholarships and fellowships to its undergraduate and graduate students and to students pursuing secondary education concentrations in the College of Humanities & Social Sciences and the College of Science.

Louisiana Classroom Teacher Enrollment Program
During the 1993 Regular Legislative Session, the Legislature passed House Bill 535, and the Governor later signed into law, Act 253 of 1993 which enacted Louisiana Revised Statutes (L.R.S.) 17:3129.3. This law creates the Louisiana Classroom Teacher Enrollment Program (CTEP), which, if several stipulations are met, allows classroom teachers to attend Louisiana’s public colleges and universities tuition free (all other fees must be paid by the teacher) on a space available basis.

Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grant (TEACH Grant)
Undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in an eligible program, maintain a 3.25 gpa, and commit to teach in high-need field, at a low-income school, for at least four years within eight years of completing the program for which the grant was awarded. 

Louisiana Pathways
For child care employees working toward an approved bachelor’s degree, scholarships will pay for tuition only.  Scholarship recipient will be responsible for all fees and required textbooks. 

Louisiana Early Childhood Association Scholarships & Grants
Each year LAECA has up to $3,600.00 in scholarships and mini-grants available to members.

Golden Key International Honor Society
Golden Key is an academic honor society that is by invitation only for the top 15% of university sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students. This society has awarded over $12.5 million dollars in scholarships and awards. They also offer academic programs, leadership opportunities, and service projects. To apply for admittance, you must go online and fill out the form. You will then they be prompted to send your transcript.

Ruby J. Darensbourg-Cook Memorial Scholarship Fund
Sponsor: Baton Rouge Area Foundation
Amount: $1,500
Closing Date: September 30, 2022
Description: Scholarships are open to individuals currently enrolled in a Practitioner Teacher Alternative Certificate Program approved by the Louisiana Department of Education. Individuals must be pursuing certification in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education and have completed at least half of the required Certification Program course hours.

Graduate School Tuition Award
The Pinkie Gordon Lane Graduate School Tuition Awards program was created by the LSU Board of Supervisors to increase the cultural and ethnic diversity of the graduate student body. The Tuition Award is a two-year award for incoming graduate students that provides the recipient an exemption for tuition as well as the non-resident fee, if applicable. The recipient will still be responsible for other university fees. Students do not apply directly to the Graduate School for this award. Louisiana Geaux Teach Scholarship Program

What is the Louisiana Geaux Teach Program?

The Geaux Teach scholarship program was established to provide scholarships to students who are enrolled in teacher preparation programs or alternate certification programs approved by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) at postsecondary education institutions within the state.

What are the eligibility requirements?

  • The student must be a United States citizen and if required, registered with the Selective Service.
  • Be a Louisiana resident for at least two years prior to July 1 immediately preceding the academic year of enrollment.
  • Have at least a 2.50 cumulative college grade point average.
  • Be enrolled full time in an approved teacher preparation program or alternate certification program.
