Research
Dr. Robbins’ research centers around the improvement in the delivery of climate and climate change to the public, private industry, and government agencies. As Director of the NOAA Southern Regional Climate Center (SRCC) at LSU, he is involved in the development of computing systems; distributed climate information systems; climate data analysis and graphical displays; and the development of climate data-products to help provide people with the ability to make decisions informed by historical climate patterns (spatial and temporal), current climate trends and variability, and future projections of climate change.
He is also a Co-PI on two 5-year research efforts that include the NOAA Southern Climate Impacts Planning Program (SCIPP), a joint venture between LSU and the University of Oklahoma; and the DOI/USGS Southeast Regional Climate Science Center (SE CSC), a collaborative effort between the University of Oklahoma, LSU, Texas Tech University, Oklahoma State University, the NOAA Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory and the Choctaw and Chickasaw Nations of Oklahoma.
