Biological Safety (Biosafety)

LSU's biological safety program has been developed to protect students, staff, faculty, and visitors from potentially hazardous biological materials; to assist with compliance with national, state and local regulations, standards, and guidelines pertaining to biological research; and to promote good microbiological practices.  

The Environmental Health, and Safety (EHS)-Biological Safety group is committed to providing on-going support and expertise regarding the recognition, assessment, and control of the hazards associated with biological material. We provide a wide range of support services, from consultation to training, with the goal of ensuring the safest laboratory environment for all Louisiana State University students, staff, faculty, and the surrounding community.
